George J. Ko, MD, FACS, FASRS, received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University in New York City. He then completed his internship in Medicine at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by an Ophthalmology Residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Ko completed his two-year fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases and surgery in one of the top clinical programs in the nation: The Retina Group of Washington and The Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center combined program, in Washington, DC.

Dr. Ko is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has presented at national and international retina meetings on the treatment of age-related macular degeneration and retinal detachment as well as given Continuing Medical Education courses on retinal vascular diseases. He is one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists selected by Consumers’ Research Council since 2009 and is a recipient of the prestigious Secretariat Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2007. He also holds several professional memberships that include American Society of Retina Specialists, Research to Prevent Blindness and the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Ko enjoys outdoor activities as well as gourmet dining with his family. He is fluent in Chinese.
